See Your Soul
(The True Mirror Blog)
When i show the True Mirror to people, and say that its a way to see yourself as you really are, there is a certain number of people who say "Why would i want to see that?"
Its a question that always surprises me, because to me, who we are is an incredibly important question. Not what i look like, which is always going to be X and inevitably declining with age, but who I am, which actually starts at Y and can improve every day until i die. Who I am determines what i do, what value i bring to the world, why others would like me, even love me.
Being aware of that part of my nature - the "being" part of human being - is so important to enable more development of that person. They call it self-awareness, and its tied to self-understanding and eventually self-esteem and self-actualization. A better life, in other words.
So getting to know my true nature is an important part of my job here on the earth. Learning about myself comes from so many areas - my experiences in the world, my relationships, my workshops and books i consume. And now the True MIrror - it becomes a tool to that allows me to see and confirm what i have learned about myself through all my other work. I can see in my eyes how i am feeling in the moment, what's really going on, what I bring to the table. Especially the good stuff - the light of understanding, the compassion, the joy. Seeing is believing. And seeing it in yourself is truly delightful.
But it starts with valuing the concept to begin with. Being Self-Aware is a lot more complex than running on automatic, but it has some wonderful benefits. Hard to define right now, but once you see them, feel them, share them and live with those benefits, it's a little hard to comprehend asking that question "Why would I want to see that?"
